515 is Back, Baby! 515 Brewing Finds New Owners, New Head Brewer, Re-Opens in June

CLIVE, IA (May 5, 2026) – After 13 years of creating award winning beer, 515 Brewing is proud to announce their re-opening under the new ownership of Scott and Wil Hedderich and the brewing expertise of Head Brewer Jason Kyte.

Founded in 2013, 515 Brewing has become a Clive favorite known for its welcoming atmosphere and delicious beers right off the Greenbelt Trail bike path. As the brewery enters its 14th (15th in 2027!) year, this transition marks a new era and new possibilities.

The Father Son Duo are long time fans of the craft brewery (and beer in general), and upon hearing it was up for sale in late 2025 set to work on finding a way to keep the beer flowing and the taproom open. “Having the opportunity to be a part of a brewery with such a great relationship with the community is both an honor and a responsibility,” said Scott Hedderich. “We want fans of 515 to feel right at home when they walk through the door and know the place they love isn’t going anywhere. We are committed to the same values and ideals that made the taproom a home for so many.”

Helming the brewery is Head Brewer Jason Kyte, whose background includes brewing at Granite City Food and Brewery, Padre Island Brewing Company, and experience in every role in the service industry. With over 38 years of home brewing experience, he is the perfect person to create delicious craft beers! Jason plans to return Mexican Spring and OJ IPA to the taps, as well as his own creations like the upcoming Hive Minded Honey Pilsner and Good Morning Coffee Stout.

“This brewery already has a strong identity and loyal following,” said Kyte. “My goal is to make beer you can actually taste. When someone sits down and has one of my creations, and the description says ‘with notes of raisin or plumb or graham cracker, toffee, caramel, grapefruit, apricot,’ or the like, I want our guests to know they are going to be able to taste those notes in my beers.”  With over 38 years of brewing experience and apprenticeship training from a traditional German Brewmaster, he cannot wait for customers old and new to fall in love with 515 Brewing all over again. Jason says “it’s like we’re blowing on a campfire early in the morning. 515 Brewing Company just needs a breath of fresh air and it will start smoldering again. And I believe we are the perfect trio to make that dream come true for the 515 faithful and for the local beer connoisseur who is looking for a great tasting beer with some meat on the bone.”

Currently 515 Brewing is undergoing renovations, but customers can expect the taproom to open in early June. 515 Original Recipes will be tapped sometime in June, so keep on the lookout for our Keg Tapping Party!
