Frequently Asked Questions

Taproom/Events

Do you serve food? We love food. We just don’t make food. You are always welcome to bring in your own food, pick up food from your favorite local restaurant or have food delivered to 515. Sometimes we have food trucks visit the brewery. Check our events page or social media for the current schedule.

Will someone come to my table and take an order? In true brewery fashion, we take orders and serve beer from the bar. We want the opportunity to talk to you about the beer. Come on over!

What if I forgot to close my tab? Fret not! Tabs left overnight can be picked up during our normal business hours. An automatic 20% gratuity will be charged. If you can't remember if you left your card at 515, the fastest way to get a response is emailing us.

Can I bring children to 515? Yes. Anyone under the age of 21 are allowed in our taproom with a parent or legal guardian.

Can I bring my pet to 515? We welcome well-behaved and leashed pets on our patio. Please enter and exit with your animal via the patio gate. Pets are NOT allowed in our taproom, according to Iowa code, unless it is an official service animal (they must be wearing their vest).

Can I reserve a table for my group? We only reserve indoor tables/areas for groups larger than six people. Patio space is on first come, first serve basis. We ask that reservations be made at least 48 hours in advance. Ready to reserve? Fill out the form.

Can I rent the taproom for a private event? We host private events any time we aren’t open to the public. You can find more details on our taproom page.

Do you have free wifi? Yes we do! The wifi is called 515Brewing_Guest.

Do you have free parking? We have a parking lot in front of our taproom. If the lot is full, you are welcome to park in the lots east of the brewery.

Is the taproom handicap accessible? Our taproom and bathrooms are handicap accessible. We also have two designated parking spaces out front.

My friend doesn’t like beer. Do you serve anything else? We usually have a selection of ciders, wines and/or hard seltzers on tap or in cans. We also offer a small selection of non-alcoholic kombucha and soda.

Do you welcome party buses? Only if you coordinate your stop with us in advance first. Email us a couple weekdays before with the day, time and how many in your party. We may even be able to reserve a spot for your group. And, if 515 can be your first stop on your tour, all the better!

Beer

Can I take beer to go? Yes. We have both growlers or crowlers to go. You are also welcome to bring in your own growler, but it must be clean. We have the right to refuse anyone a growler pour if they don’t present a clean growler. Growlers/Crowlers are for off-site consumption only.

Do you have any gluten-free beers? We do not have any gluten-free beers. We do offer a small selection of hard cider, hard seltzer and soda. Keep in mind these products, while naturally gluten free, could be produced on a system that also brews beer (e.g. 515 hard seltzer). If you have concerns or questions, please contact us.

Can I purchase a keg from you? Are you a wholesaler? If yes, reach out to our distributor, Justin at Mahaska Distributing. Otherwise 99% of the time, the answer is no. As much as we would like to sell kegs to the general public, we can't for two reasons. One, we don't make enough beer to support the demand. And two, we don't have enough kegs. (Keep in mind we are happy to fill as many growlers/crowlers as you need.)

Potpourri

Can I tour your brewery? We currently do not offer scheduled tours of the brewery. On occasion, we'll offer tours as part of an event so stay tuned.

Are bottle shares ok? As long as you play by these super simple rules (so we don't get in trouble with the State), we are cool.
1. Beer must be purchased legally.
2. No beer over 15% ABV.
3. Employees of 515 need to open the beer.
4. Must be 21 years of age to participate.
And while not required, we always appreciate you buying a beer or two from us while you are here. Thanks!

Do you have gift certificates? Yes! You can purchase in our taproom or online.

Will you be a stop on our organized/charity bike ride? Depending on the day and time, we certainly can be and we always appreciate a heads up. Please email us so we can coordinate and go over details.

Will you attend our beer festival? Maybe. If you are hosting a festival, please refer to the Iowa Brewers Guild Brewer’s Bill of Rights before contacting us.
