End of an Era: 515 Brewing for Sale, Head Brewer Retires

CLIVE, IA (August 5, 2025) – After more than 12 incredible years, over 300 unique brews, and two prestigious Great American Beer Festival® Gold Medals (GABF), the owners of 515 Brewing have made the bittersweet decision to move on from the brewing business. They are actively seeking a new owner to take the reins of 515 Brewing— someone with fresh ideas and a passion to build on the solid foundation already in place.

“Opening a brewery and crafting our own beer was a dream come true,” said Ryan Rost, co-owner of 515 Brewing. “The most rewarding part was sharing our beer with our community. We are beyond grateful to everyone who has supported us. We’d love to see someone bring new life to 515 Brewing and take it to the next level.”

This transition also marks the retirement of longtime head brewer, Barb Becker, who has spent the last decade at 515 Brewing. A creative force behind the taps, Barb brewed countless fan-favorite beers and was instrumental in earning the brewery’s two GABF golds. Barb leaves behind a legacy of creativity, craftsmanship, and consistency that helped define 515 Brewing.

As of now, the brewery has ceased production of new beers, but the taps are still flowing in the taproom. Knowing this day was on the horizon, the current tap list features a curated lineup of greatest hits—including Mexican Spring, OJ IPA, Passé, and D.A.R.T. Dodger—as well as one final new release: an exceptional corn lager called Maize the Force Be with You.

Fans of 515 beer are encouraged to stop in and enjoy it in its current form while it’s still available. The taproom remains open as the brewery explores new ownership opportunities. Guests are invited to raise a glass, share stories, and celebrate what has made 515 Brewing special.
